Medical Mileage Rate for the 2017 Benefit Period
The IRS recently released the medical mileage rate for the 2017 benefit period. The 2017 rate is 17 cents per mile, a slight decrease from 2016.Mileage to and from a medical service is an eligible expense under a Health Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA). Simply use the Mileage Worksheet (PDF) (PDF) to log miles to and from your doctor, dentist, pharmacy or other medical care provider. When you?re ready to submit a claim, sign the bottom of the Mileage Worksheet to certify the expense, and submit the worksheet along with your completed Health Care FSA claim form (PDF)(PDF). Reminder: You may continue to submit mileage claims from the 2016 benefit period until the deadline on April 30, 2017. The 2016 mileage rate is 19 cents per mile.
