Medical Mileage Rate for the 2017 Benefit Period
The IRS recently released the medical mileage rate for the 2017 benefit period. The 2017 rate is 17 cents per mile, a slight decrease from 2016. Mileage to and from a medical service is an eligible expense under a Health Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA). Substantiation Requirements for Mileage and Parking
You spoke, and we listened! You no longer need to submit receipts to be reimbursed for eligible mileage and parking expenses for travel to and from your doctor, dentist, pharmacy, or other medical care provider.
Shared Accounts & Spouse Processing
When enrolling for the 2017 benefit period, you have the option to link your FSAFEDS account to a spouse's FSAFEDS account. If one spouse's balance has been exhausted, claims automatically process against the other spouse's account, as long as there is an available balance. This feature is effective January 1, 2017.
